Helloworld chief executive officer Elizabeth Gaines has welcomed the appointment of Jenny Macdonald to the role of chief financial officer.

Macdonald will join Helloworld in mid-August, bringing extensive financial and operational experiences across both the online and travel sectors.

“We are very pleased to add an executive of Jenny’s calibre to the talented and experienced team at Helloworld and I know Jenny will make a significant contribution to the future success of our Company,” Gaines said.

Macdonald was most recently chief financial officer and general manager at REA Group, a global online real estate company. She also previously worked at Flight Centre as general manager at FCm Travel Solutions New Zealand, chief financial officer of Flight Centre New Zealand and general manager for Flight Centre Retail Finance in Australia.

Her credentials also include membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company of Directors.

Meanwhile, Helloworld was named as the country's Best Travel Agency Group (100 outlets or more) at National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) on Saturday night.

Gaines described the win as the “ideal way” to celebrate its one year anniversary.

“I would like to congratulate all Helloworld winners and finalists, and I would like to recognise and thank everyone who contributed to our success – our franchisees, members, consultants, managers, staff and our preferred supply partners for their continued dedication, hard work and support,” she said.

In addition, seven of Helloworld’s members and franchisees received awards at the event in recognition of their achievements, with Air Tickets again winning the award for Best Agency Support Service.
