Cosmos has hosted 11 Australian agents on a famil trip to experience their 10-day Grand Tour of Switzerland product.

This is the first time that Globus family of brands has arranged a group famil in Switzerland and reports that Switzerland is a favoured option for clients who have seen Europe already.

“Switzerland is an important destination and we get a lot of support from the Swiss Tourism board with that particular itinerary being very popular,” Cosmos Europe executive director Andy Barker said.

The trip began in Zurich with a walking tour of the old city and dinner on a lake cruise.

The group then travelled by coach to St Moritz, where they visited the UNESCO World Heritage listed Mostair monastery dating back to the 8th century followed by a funicular ride to a height of 2400 metres to overlook the Swiss Alps and the town of St Moritz.

The tour continued with a train journey through the Swiss/Italian Alps on the Bernina Express followed by a short visit across the border to Italy’s Lake Como.

The agents had a chance to see Globus headquarters first-hand in Lugano before rejoining the coach to travel to Zermatt, a town at the foot of the Matterhorn.

All optional excursions have been included in the famil, including a trip to the historic palace of Lake Maggiore and a trip on Europe’s highest mountain railway to Gornergrat to view the Matterhorn.

The group includes Australia-wide agents and two Globus staff members: Darren Perry, Globus; Mathias Kaesyel, Globus; Ebony Sayers, Jayes Travel; George Vella, Breakaway Travel; Susan Anderberg, Macleay Valley Travel; Joanne Rea, Escape Travel Caloundra; Madeleine Irving , IYC Travel; Jasmin Knopfel, HWT Garden City; Hillary Packer, Jetset Mitcham; Mandy Smith, Helloworld Devonport; Joanne Rickard, The World @ Braeside Travel; Emily Turner, Travel Plus Travel Service; Veronica Ciccarone, Bicton Travel and Cruise Centre.
