Cosmos taps into Middle East aviation growth

Cosmos has flagged plans to introduce an escorted tour of Oman and Dubai to tap into the region’s aviation growth.

“New for 2015 will be a Dubai and Oman tour, with the coach tour to start in Muscat in Oman and travel up to Abu Dhabi and Dubai,” Cosmos Europe executive director Andy Barker said.

The itinerary is in the planning stages with the brochure set to be released in September.

“The Emirates network is expanding beyond belief and with this combination of Qantas and Emirates I thought we would start a tour,” Barker said.

Cosmos reiterated the strength of the Australian market and its general panorama tours as a core product.

The typical Cosmos client will be a first-time traveller on a panorama tour, who tend to return on a regional tour, Barker said.

River cruising has affected the escorted touring market, Barker conceded. “But I still believe the first time traveller is taking coach tours to first see and then decide where to return,” he added.
