Expedia taps into corporate sector

Expedia taps into corporate sector
By admin

More than half of Expedia’s trade bookings are coming from the corporate travel sector, due to a growing trend for business travel to off the beaten track destinations behind the trend, according to the retailer.

Stuart Udy, the Asia Pacific manager of Expedia’s Travel Agent Affiliate Program (TAAP), said corporate travellers travelling to a wider range of less-travelled destinations are turning to their travel management companies to make the arrangements.

As a result, many TMCs are turning to TAAP with its access to a broad range of niche destinations, in order to retain the business, he claimed.

Although he admitted he had been surprised by the high proportion of corporate bookings through the scheme, Udy highlighted the benefits of the program for TMCs.

“Expedia TAAP gives the TMCs an added tool to service corporates who are travelling to areas where they don’t have specific rates but also the ability to compare the negotiated rates from a supplier to what’s otherwise available on the internet,” he said.
