Dollar dip won't dent appeal, says Visit USA

Visit USA is confident of another record yearin 2013, as final figures for 2012 showed Australian visitation to the destination had hit new heights.

The year saw 1.12 million Australians visit the US in 2012, an increase of 8.1% year on year. It represents the eighth record year from the Australian market with Australia now the 10th largest invound visitor market for the US.

Of the record number of visitor, 12% were business-related arrivals with the remainder there for leisure purposes.

Visit USA Australia president Geoffrey Hutton referred to forecasts which predict that 1.212 million Australians will visit the destination in 2013 with that figure expected to rise to 1.562 million by 2018.

"America is still one of the most popular international destinations for Australian travellers," he said.

"Despite the weakening dollar, all signs point to another record visitation year in 2013."
