Carnival Legend to adapt for Aussie market

Insights gained during Carnival Spirit's Australian deployment will be put to use in the adaptation of sister ship Carnival Legend, to be based in local waters from September 2014.

The steepest and fastest waterslide at sea, Green Thunder, which was devised with the Australian market in mind, will be added to Legend in response to Australia's "love of the outdoors and adventure", Carnival Cruise Lines revealed.

The upgrades will also see the addition of CCL's RedFrog Pub – a southern hemisphere first – in recognition of the pub's role as "the cornerstone of Aussie culture".

In addition, the cruise line has catered to the Australian love of sushi with the addition of a Bonsai Sushi restaurant and to those with sweeter teeth with the inclusion of a Cherry on Top "candy-and-more" store.

"Carnival Legend will be stacked with exciting features for Ausie guests, providing strong talking points for agents looking to sell new and exciting holiday experiences," CCL director Australia and New Zealand, Jennifer Vandekreeke, said.

She underlined the importance of trade support for both vessels as sales for the newcomer officially opened in Polar.
