Air Tahiti Nui will increase its Auckland-Papeete service to three times weekly with the addition of a new Tuesday service as part of a global overhaul to make the destination more accessible.

The additional service will operate from December and will link up with direct codeshare connections from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Although service increases had been added previously during peak season, general manager New Zealand Australia Mark Hutchinson expects the year-round boost to better cater to Australian travellers.

“We’ve experienced year on year growth in passengers travelling to Tahiti, which has enabled us to launch this additional service with confidence," he said. "We’ll soon be flying to Tahiti every other day offering our guests more choice and flexibility when it comes to planning their holiday.”

The airline is also enhancing its fleet of Airbus A340-300 aircraft with a complete cabin reconfiguration which is to include new seats and inflight entertainment system.
