Flight Centre ‚Äúblended model” taking shape
By admin

Flight Centre's "blended travel" concept, which marries online and offline bookings, is taking shape in Australia with phase three of the model delivering a "fully" integrated system which will allow consumers to switch between the channels.

The choice will remain with customers irrespective of whether they made their initial booking in a bricks and mortar travel agency or online.

The system should be up and running locally by the end of the year.

Phase 2, which involved making more product and services available online, is virtually complete in Australia with low cost airlines on the verge of being added.

In addition, a ‘Consultant Select' model has been launched in Australia which allow consumers to seek advise from a consultant if something goes wrong. In addition, a ‘Perfect Match' has been trialled that refers online consumers with agents who have recent first hand experience of the destination that are travelling to.

"Today the power is with customers and retailers need to be able to meet their needs across all sales channels, effectively allowing them to interact and transact when and how they want," Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said. "The enhancements that are currently taking place will deliver online solutions that take away some of the pain points that customers experience when booking travel."
