Air NZ speeds up Sydney check-ins

Air New Zealand has introduced fast track kiosk check-in facilities at Sydney International Airport for customers travelling to trans-Tasman or Pacific Island destinations.

Passengers who scan their machine readable passports at one of the 15 kiosks will be issued with a boarding pass and bag tags in a “matter of seconds”, according to the airline.

Group general manager Australasia Bruce Parton said he expects the kiosks to “almost eliminate” queueing.

“This is an expansion of the innovation we’ve been pioneering in New Zealand which has revolutionised the trans-Tasman experience,” he said.

Of passengers checking in at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown, 80% select the faster method, he added.
