Etihad Airways has suspended flights to Sana’a effective immediately due to the deteriorating security situation in Yemen.

For guests who have purchased tickets to or from Sana’a on or before September 18, the airline is offering cancellations and refunds free of charge, whether the ticket is wholly or partially utilised, however re-routing and endorsements onto other airlines are not permitted.

The airline is monitoring the situation for more updates and safety information, however flights will remain suspended until further notice.

Princess Cruises is launching a new beer to mark its upcoming 50th anniversary, with the beer to be introduced onboard the company’s newest ship Regal Princess when it hosts the anniversary celebrations in November.

The Seawitch West Coast IPA, named after the line’s logo, has been developed exclusively for Princess Cruises in partnership with US-based Strike Brewing Company, and is expected to be available fleetwide by early 2015.

Expedia and Citi are launching a new travel cobranded credit card program designed for travellers to earn Expedia+ rewards bonus points faster, and redeem these points for rewards on Expedia.com.

The program includes two new chip-enabled credit cards, the Expedia+ Card and the Expedia+ Voyager Card from Citi, which will be available for use everywhere that accepts MasterCard.

Globus has unveiled its 2015 collection of European holidays, which includes seven new itineraries and a new brochure dedicated to top-selling holidays in Britain and Ireland.

To mark the release, Globus is offering savings on flights to Europe with Cathay Pacific when booked in conjunction with any Globus 2015 European tour, as well as a 10% discount on all tours booked and paid 12 months or more in advance.

New itineraries include a nine-day Iberian Tapestry tour, a nine-day Italian Sampler tour, and a nine-day Warsaw, the Baltics & Helsinki tour.

Etihad Airways has been named winner of the Best Emerging Airline on Social Media Award at the SimpliFlying Awards 2014, after reaching one million Facebook fans globally.

The award recognises the best social media campaigns and practices in the aviation industry, with winners announced at a ceremony during the Travel Distribution Summit North America in New York this week.

Etihad Airways was also named Most Influential Brand in the UAE on LinkedIn, with the airline implementing a number of social networking initiatives in the past 12 months that focused on community management.

Shangri-La Hotel Singapore has become the first hotel in Singapore to launch a social mobile program with WeChat, which allows guests in Asia to make accommodation and dining reservations, check on their reservation status and learn about special offers and hotel facilities.

To celebrate the new partnership with WeChat, the hotel has launched a ‘Share and Win’ campaign to encourage users to share the news of this initiative and engage with the personalised experience.

London’s acclaimed New Year’s Eve fireworks celebrations have grown to such an extent that organisers, including the Mayor of London, have decided to ticket the event in order to monitor the number of attendees.

This year, 100,000 tickets will be available to the public, with tickets available from Friday September 26 at 12pm (UK time) on www.london.gov.uk/nye.

“London's New Year's Eve fireworks are phenomenally popular, not just in the capital, but across the world and we want to ensure it continues to be a safe, enjoyable and sustainable event for the long-term,” Mayor of London Boris Johnson said.

Emirates has released a number of Early Bird airfares to 37 destinations in Europe and the UK, with the lead-in Economy fare to Dublin starting at $1521.

Other destinations include new additions to the Emirates network, including Oslo, Brussels, and Budapest, with bookings required by November 19, and travel dates spanning from March 1 and September 30 2015.

Scenic Tours has continued its partnership with Getaway, inviting host, TV presenter and actor David Reyne on a tour of Canada’s West Coast.

The Nine Network will be screening three half hour episodes of these journeys from September 20, which will include visits to Whistler, the British Columbia, Lake Louise and Banff.

The operator will also run a competition for viewers, with a 15-day Canadian Rockies tour for two and return economy airfares up for grabs.
