How to do business in economy

How to do business in economy
By admin

In theory, when clients are travelling for work, they should be in business class. But in a time of budget cuts that's not always the case. This is how the workers in economy class can make the most of the experience.

1.  Check and change your seat at the gate

Many flyers don't know that you can change your seat a few seconds before you board. Go through the gate when they are less busy (the final boarding call) and ask them to check if there are seats with spares next to them – the holy grail of economy class flights. The staff will show you the seating arrangement on screen and you can choose the one that best fits.

2. Use a Knee Defender

This is a controversial one after a recent high profile altercation on a United Airlines flight between a man using the seat-recline stopper and the woman in front who wished to lie back those few extra inches. It ended with the lady throwing a glass of water and the flight being diverted, so use with caution. Each airline has a policy on the use of the Knee Defender, so check before you employ it.

3. Buy noise cancelling headphones

One of the differences between economy class and business class may seem small, but has a big impact on your enjoyment. At the pointy end the headphones are better quality. At the back, the earphones tend to be thin, fuzzy and tinny. Invest in good quality noise cancelling headphones to enjoy the entertainment system and cut down on engine and ambient noise.
