How much for Freedom on Etihad?

Etihad Airways is taking a fresh approach to its fare costs and launching Fare Choices for customers.

As of September 14, the new fare structure will come into play, enabling travellers to tailor their journey to more individual standards.

The new Fare Choices vary by flexibility, baggage allowance, miles earned and optional inclusions such as priority check-in, chauffeur service, and upgrade eligibility.

There is a total of eight Fare Choices for economy, business and first class:

  • Economy Class: Economy Breaking Deals, Economy Saver, Economy Value and Economy Freedom
  • Business Class: Business Breaking Deals, Business Saver and Business Freedom
  • First Class:

Etihad’s chief commercial officer Peter Baumgartner said it’s all about the customer and what they want.

“Ultimately, this is about providing choice. In most industries, there is a move towards allowing customers to tailor and customise their experience, and ours is no different,” he said.

“When it comes to booking a flight, not everyone’s needs are the same. Some guests want to travel light and on a budget, whilst others want to be able to make last-minute travel decisions, carry extra baggage or earn more miles.”

“For example, if a guest wants more flexibility, more luggage, and priority check in, they can select our Economy Freedom Fare Choice.”

The changes to baggage policy have reduced the price of excess baggage charges on most routes and have forged better alignment with Etihad Airways Partner airlines.

On some routes, the cost of buying an additional 23kg piece of baggage will be reduced by up to 90%, with a further reduction of up to 30% if pre-purchased directly with Etihad Airways up to 24 hours before travel.

Fare Choices will apply to all bookings made on or after September 14 2015, whether purchased from a travel agency, Etihad Airways Contact Centre, or the website.
