Winners are grinners with NTIA Star alliance ‘scratch & win’

This year’s AFTA National Travel Industry Awards saw seven lucky guests now planning dream holidays after winning international airline tickets in Star Alliance’s show-stopping ‘Scratch & Win’ promotion.

Over 50 prizes were up for grabs as guests at the industry’s most prestigious awards evening began peeling open their Star Alliance-branded napkin holder and scratching a small silver square to reveal the winners.

Some great prizes given away by Star Alliance member carriers including Air Canada, Air China,  Air India, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana, Austrian, EVA Air, Lufthansa, SAS, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, SWISS, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and United. Among the rewards were 13 international airline tickets, with winners including:

  • Margaret Sibraa, Intrepid Group (two Air Canada Economy Class tickets)
  • Walter Nand, Avalon Waterways (two EVA Airways Economy Class tickets)
  • Lisa Borowick, Travel Call (two Lufthansa Premium Economy tickets)

  • David Cox, Intrepid Travel (two South African Airways Economy Class tickets)
  • Bianca Sobotta, Carlson Wagonlit (two Thai Airways Economy Class tickets)

Star Alliance Country Steering Committee Chair Tim Clyde-Smith says the ‘Scratch and Win’ promotion added even more excitement to this year’s National Travel Industry Awards.

“We have never seen gala dinner guests so eager to take their seats and unwrap their napkins!” Clyde-Smith said.

“Thank you to all the Star Alliance member carriers who so generously contributed to such a fun and well-received promotion.”

Star Alliance also sponsored the Best Non-Branded Travel Agency Group category at this year’s NTIA, won by Helloworld for Business.
