WATCH: Fringe performers rocked a Virgin flight with a special mid-air performance

To coincide with the official media launch of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Virgin Australia held ‘Fringe in the Sky’ – a special mid-air performance for unsuspecting guests onboard a flight from Melbourne to Adelaide this morning.

First-time Fringe performer, Shay Debney of The Red Light act from Melbourne, wearing a bright sequin jacket, danced and high-kicked down the aisle of VA217 with fellow performer, Tiggy Treloar, as soon as the seat-belt sign was switched off, much to the delight of surprised passengers.

Fresh from inking a two-year partnership with Adelaide Fringe as the official airline of the festival, Virgin Australia today confirmed it returned to pre-COVID levels of flying to Adelaide last month (58,000 seats per week), helping to grow interstate visitation to the festival.

Virgin Australia has also introduced a free baggage policy for registered Fringe artists, to make travelling and performing at the festival easier and more cost effective, following two years of lockdowns.

Adelaide Fringe saw more than 32,000 tourists descend on Adelaide last year with a target of 60,000 tourists by 2025.
