Vietjet confident about continued growth in AU market

Vietjet has become a big player in the Southeast Asian market this year, launching a fleet of new A330’s alongside new routes to Australia and a number of hit incentives for its travellers.

In February, the airline announced a fifth widebody aircraft (in the Airbus A330 variety) would service new routes between Vietnam and a number of new locations in Australia, Japan, Korea and Europe.

In a recent chat with Travel Weekly, Vice President, VietJet, Nguyen Tanh Son, said the Australian low cost market is continuing to grow.

“Vietnam is a popular destination for Australian travellers and with a large Vietnamese population in Australia, we believe that there is a significant demand for affordable air travel options between the two nations,” Tanh Son, said.

Asked on the reception of the new Australian routes – of which there currently two in Sydney and Melbourne, with Brisbane set for June this year – Tanh Son said,

“We are seeing strong demand for our flights from Sydney and Melbourne, and are confident that these new routes will continue to be popular.”

“We are continually monitoring the demand and adjusting our services accordingly to meet the needs of our customers.”

The airline has high aspirations to service more destinations, with a goal to fly to all Australian capitol cities as well as additional global destinations.

Vietjet’s flights from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City will take place every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, departing at 10:15am and landing at 4:30 pm (local time). Return flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney will depart every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, taking off at 7:30 pm and landing in Sydney at 7:20am.

Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City commenced on 9 April, and will take place every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing at 12:30am and landing at 6:30am (local time). Return flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, taking off at 10:55am and landing in Melbourne at 10:35pm.

To celebrate its launch in Australia the airline offered thousands of free flights to those savvy enough to snag a deal in February, and is now offering fare discounts of up to 50% on its SkyBoss and SkyBoss Business packages until 5 May on selected flights.
