Treasures of the South Pacific wraps up events

The Treasures of the South Pacific events for 2016 wrapped up this week in the Sunshine State, Queensland.

Treasures of the South Pacific brings together national tourism offices from Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Vanuatu and other hidden treasures of the South Pacific. The events are also supported by South Pacific Tourism Association and Pacific Island Trade and Invest.

Some 80 agents attended the event in Brisbane at the Treasury Hotel on Tuesday, followed by more than 30 agents at the Sunshine Coast event held at Mantra, Mooloolaba Beach on Wednesday.

Agents enjoyed free flowing networking with the tourism boards, hotel and airline representatives before listening to destination presentations and prize giveaways.

The Treasures of the South Pacific Roadshow will continue in 2017 with more dates to be announced later this year.

Travel agents can also sign up and complete the South Pacific Tourism Organisation online training to become a South Pacific Specialist at southpacificspecialist.org.

The consolidated approach to jointly market the South Pacific gives agents the chance to learn more about their closest neighbours, providing them with the tools to generate more interest and bookings for South Pacific destinations.
