Singapore Airlines goes five times daily from Sydney

In a major boost for Australian travellers, Singapore Airlines has announced it will be offering a permanent fifth daily service from Sydney Airport.

Starting on October 27, 2024, the airline will add a new 6:45AM daily flight to its Singapore schedule. This will be available for the six-month Northern Winter season, subject to regulatory approvals.

This new flight means Sydney Airport will become the largest port for in the airline’s network from Changi Airport, with more than 12,000 seats available for passengers each week.

With flights to 72 destinations across the world, including Europe, the United Kingdom, and Asia, this additional service from Singapore Airlines offers travellers even more choice.

The airline is also offering the fifth daily supplementary service during the upcoming Christmas holiday peak from 2 December to 14 January.

Three other airlines operate between Sydney and Singapore: Qantas, British Airways, and Scoot.

Low-cost carrier Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is also increasing capacity and will offer 12 weekly return flights between Sydney and Singapore starting in December.

From December, all four airlines will offer a total of 69 return flights between Sydney Airport and Changi Airport.

Geoff Culbert, CEO of Sydney Airport, said, “Sydney Airport is really proud to be Singapore Airlines’ home away from home, and it is clear that Sydneysiders can’t get enough of their world-class service.”

“Not only will this extra flight from Singapore Airlines offer Australians heading overseas more choice, but it will also help boost the number of visitors, especially from Asia and Europe.”

“It looks like 2024 is going to be a bumper year for international travel at Sydney Airport, with extra capacity coming online not just from Singapore but also from other key markets, including China and Indonesia.”

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul said: “We are pleased to be able to bring our Sydney flights back to our pre-Covid frequency of five flights daily.”

“Demand for travel to and from Sydney has bounced back strongly from the pandemic and the additional daily service will provide further room for growth as travellers enjoy more connecting options through Singapore Changi Airport to major cities in Asia and Europe.”
