Shangri La Sydney Hotel Review

Shangri La Sydney Hotel Review

The most up-to-date Shangri La Sydney Hotel Review

Room 9/10

Few hotels in Sydney can match the Shangri La’s expansive views across the harbour, bridge and opera house. The newly refurbished top six floors, which form the Horizon Club offer stunning views of some, or all, of Sydney’s iconic sites. The rooms have been reappointed and nothing fails to meet the highest standards, except for the pure size of the rooms. Although you know we’re nit-picking when complaining about the square footage in CBD hotels.

Facilities 9/10

Time never stands still in the five star hotel sector. So, to keep ahead of the usual facilities expectation, CHI, the spa at Shangri La has been upgraded to enjoy an new menu and a refresh to keep current. Of course the hotel also offers a wealth of other facilities including gym, pool, conference and meeting facilities, etc but cocktail bar, Altitude on level 36 is a real drawcard for guest and visitors alike. Meanwhile the newly refitted Horizon Club Lounge on level 30 has been unveiled following its multi-million dollar refurb along with 90 upgraded rooms throughout the top six floors. There’s also the added bonus of celebrity pastry chef Anna Polyviou for those with sweet teeth.

Service 10/10

Without fawning over your every move, the staff are omnipresent. Check in was swift at the dedicated desk in the Horizon Club lounge, while requests to front desk and impeccably handled.

Value for money 8/10

Hotels this good don’t come cheap, but they do deliver value. The Shangri La sits at the top of the pile of Sydney’s five star hotels and with the raft of online aggregators keeping price honest, securing a good value for money deal is always possible. However, occupancy levels are always very high, so booking early is the only way to go.

Overall 9/10

Forming a landmark on the CBD skyline, towering over The Rocks and the surrounding harbour, the Shangri La should be a permanent fixture for all business and leisure travellers. Meanwhile the property’s events and MICE offering with spectacular rooms, excellent catering and efficient staffing are underrated.
