Qantas staff unimpressed by new $6.1m bonus proposed for Joyce
Edited by Travel Weekly

A proposed $6.1 million bonus in addition to an already eye-watering $21.4m payout to the pocket of former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has reportedly left some staff furious.

“It just became all about the money for Alan,” a former senior executive told The Australian.

“I still can’t believe how much he has changed as a person.”

Alan Joyce will have earned over $150 million in his 10-year tenure as the face of Australia’s national carrier.

It’s no secret the airline has struggled in recent months following senate hearings, high court rulings and poor operational performance.

In September, the airline announced it would invest $230m into customer improvements attempting to claw back the respect of the Australian public.

The CEO of the Australian Shareholders Association, Rachel Waterhouse, told the Australian, companies must be clear on bonuses to executives receive after they leave a company.

“It’s an issue that shareholders are actively voting against at the moment,” Waterhouse, said.
