Qantas named world’s safest airline for 2020

Sydney, Australia - February 12, 2019: Qantas and Air New Zealand aircraft tail.

Safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com has released its best-in-class list for airline safety in 2020, with Qantas taking the top spot on this year’s list and Air New Zealand following in second place.

In making its evaluation of the safest airlines in the world, AirlineRatings.com said it considers a “comprehensive” range of factors.

These include audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, government audits, airline’s crash and serious incident record, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives, and fleet age.

AirlineRatings also only looks at the occurrence of serious safety incidents in making its determinations.

“Our top 20 safest airlines 2020 are always at the forefront of safety innovation, operational excellence and the launching of new more advanced aircraft like the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787,” editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas said.
