New Caledonia Tourism has announced the appointment of Jean-Gabriel Favreau as its new president.
Taking over the reins from Brieuc Frogier, Favreau is an elected member of New Caledonia’s Southern Province government body.
Sitting on the Budget, Finance and Heritage Commission and an administrator of PromoSud, an organisation that supports the tourism industry and its businesses in New Caledonia, Favreau said he looks forward to further developing the destination’s tourism offering during what has been a difficult and uncertain time.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way in which we travel and even think about travel, and it’s more important than ever that the tourism industry is responsive and able to adapt swiftly,” he said.
“Globally, we have seen the tourism industry come together in solidarity during these difficult times.
“Here in New Caledonia, New Caledonia Tourism will support the local industry as best it can to both promote domestic tourism and prepare for the reopening of international visitation.”
Favreau’s appointment follows the promotion of Julie Laronde to general manager of New Caledonia Tourism in April.
