Midweek interview with Kristin Rust

Midweek interview with Kristin Rust

We chat with the woman in charge of international sales & marketing at Mammoth Mountain.

The challenge for the industry is… Mother Nature.

The things I like about my job… The outstanding places I get to travel to, the lifelong friends I have made in the ski industry, and every day is Casual Friday.

And the frustrations are… Mother Nature.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… A private investigator or fortune teller.

Favourite airline? United Mileage Plus owns me.

My proudest moment was… Finishing a triathlon.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… I plead the Fifth.

I try to relax by… Planning my next vacation.

The last time I feared for my life was… The morning after my friend’s 40th birthday party.

If I can, I always try to avoid… Cilantro (you call it coriander).

I really wish I had… More vacation time.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… If you go to someone with a problem, also bring a solution.

I don’t understand why people… Litter.

My greatest weakness is… Trashy TV.

And my greatest strength is… Packing efficiently.

If I was prime minister I would… Give college scholarships to young people who do a year of international volunteer work.

If I won $1 million on the lottery (aside from travelling), I would… Drop it all and walk the 500 km El Camino de Santiago in Spain.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be… Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Myanmar.

My favourite holiday was… Thanksgivings on my grandparent’s farm in Iowa.
