Midweek Interview with Emily Warbrick

Midweek Interview with Emily Warbrick

We talk to the general manager of Snowscene.

The challenge for the industry is… Show casing that the Australian resorts are as price competitive as the New ski resorts and are on snow – both have unique selling points and a wonderful options for potential skiers.

The things I like about my job… Working in an industry that I am passionate about and the rewards that travel brings.

And the frustrations are … It is always challenging in a seasonal business however on a positive note finding new emerging destinations such as Korea, with our newly released brochure!

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… Working in Sales!

Favourite airline? I would have to say Virgin, a great brand – always exciting and fun with great service.

My proudest moment was… Graduating from TIME in 2012 and learning from my mentor Penny Spencer. Following this I was awarded ‘Manager of the Year’ in 2014 from the Jetset Group (Affiliate Award)

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… Enjoyed a few too many vinos when hosting a famil to Thredbo and had to go home early from the pub! It was the joke amongst the agents the next day when I couldn’t make my skiing lessons. I think I forgot about the altitude – yes even in Australia this can affect you.

I try to relax by… Watching a movie and having a wine at home on the couch, not thinking about work!

The last time I feared for my life was… Abseiling near Methven, New Zealand. Although I was in the hands of a professional I was also facing my fear of heights – and it was horrible.

If I can, I always try to avoid… Hot chips! My go to comfort food.

I really wish I had… More hours in the day.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… You have two ears and one mouth, listen twice as much as you talk. Trust your gut…always.

I don’t understand why people… Wouldn’t want to go on a snow holiday!

My greatest weakness is… Wine.

And my greatest strength is… Tenancity and patience. Hard work pays off they say?

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… Buy a holiday home in Queenstown and an apartment for my parents in Brisbane so I could see them more. And of course … invest wisely.

If I was prime minister I would… Approve Day Light Savings.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… Penny Spencer, my mentor and role model.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… South America.

My favourite holiday was… To Queenstown. As I could ski, enjoy great food & wine, relax in hotels with views of the Lake and enjoy the great outdoors – all within a 3 hour flight from Brisbane.
