Everything you need to know about the California wildfires

The death toll of the wildfires rampaging through California has climbed to 79, as firefighters reach their 10th day of battling the blaze.

With conditions changing rapidly each day, Visit California is connecting travellers with the latest fire information through VisitCalifornia.com travel alerts and the WestCoastTravelFacts.org website.

Two large fires are buring separately in Northern and Southern California. The fires burning in Butte County (Camp Fire) and Los Angeles County (Woolsey Fire) have required evacuations and are likely to be affecting air quality in surrounding communities.

For the latest information on wildfires in the state, visit www.Calfire.ca.gov.

TRAVEL INFRASTRUCTURE & ROAD CLOSURES

California’s gateway airports remain open, and flights across the state are operating normally. Major highways and travel corridors throughout the state are unaffected.

The Woolsey Fire has caused some road closures for short segments of the Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California. For the latest road closure updates, check Caltrans.

SAFETY

California is a vast state and many regions, including the city of Los Angeles, remain untouched and open for business.

Visit California recommend visitors planning trips to affected areas consult their tour operator or hotel directly for the latest information.
