Conservatives are mad at Jetstar’s diversity efforts: “Stop encouraging anti-biology garbage”

Earlier this week, Travel Weekly covered Jetstar’s decision to add ‘x’ as an option for passenger’s genders.

This was music to our ears, because really, what’s better than a diverse and welcoming industry?

Although, not everyone is jumping on-board, with many conservatives shunning the airline’s efforts.

Really, what a truly terrible thing to do, just ask all the angry social media users who have taken to Twitter to express their disgust in the act of kindness and acceptance.

The criticism was swift.

Though, not everyone is attempting to rain on the diversity and acceptance parade.

Despite protests, Jetstar was having none of it, with a spokesperson from the airline said Jetstar was simply following normal protocol.

“This survey question follows specific standards set by the Australian government regarding gender, and is consistent with the census and passport applications,” the spokesperson said.

“Questions like this are standard across research surveys across Australia and are not unique to Jetstar.”
