AFTA on the highway to help

AFTA is hitting the road in support of the travel industry.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has launched an initiative which will see AFTA showcase its commitment to travel agents, and ensure that Australian travel standards lift their game.

AFTA will be visiting travel agents across Australia throughout June to assist agents with the completion of their ATAS accreditation application and promote the benefits of being ATAS accredited.

Sponsored by Avis, the road trip was launched last Friday at Anywhere Travel in Kingsford NSW, a long standing member of AFTA and an existing accredited ATAS participant.

AFTA’s general manager Gary O’Riordan said the road trip will bring the focus back to the agents.

“We are keen to hear from members and seek their views on industry issues and at the same time discuss how to get the most out of their ATAS accreditation,” he said.

“ATAS is delivering on its promise as it continues to market and promote accredited agents to the Australian consumer.”

“Anywhere Travel has been a valued member of AFTA since 1984. At the launch we celebrated their business being an ATAS accredited agent and how they exemplify what it means to be the best in the business – quality, reputable, trusted and trained travel professionals.”

Anywhere Travel’s owner Barbara Whitten said she backs AFTA in its initiative.

“I am proud to be ATAS accredited and I fully support the new scheme that AFTA has implemented,” she said.

“My agency has been a long time member of AFTA and I was delighted to host the launch as AFTA goes on the road.”

The road trip begins today, Monday 1 June, in Victoria.

AFTA invites industry to follow the journey via the twitter handle @AFTAOfficial.

    1. Is there going to be a time or event in Melbourne where future travel businesses could meet with AFTA to discuss the accreditations?

    2. … would it better if afta also reach out to consumers and explain what an atas accredited agent means when it comes to their payments… just go straight to point… is their money safe…. save them the blah blahs of what an atas agent is and its benefits…
