Travel managers have a close shave with Everest
By admin

As part of the World's Highest Shave, two TravelManagers personal travel managers’ recently climbed to the Base Camp on Mt Everest to raise money for people living with Leukaemia.

Andrea Turner, representative of Windsor in Brisbane, and Michelle Thomas representative for Norah Head on New South Wales’ Central Coast, trained for just five weeks before taking on the mammoth peak.

“It was the most amazing, breathtaking, humbling, grounding, exhausting and exhilarating trip, all in one! The highlight was achieving my goal of getting to the Everest Base Camp with a shaved head," Turner said.

"We actually made it to the top of Kala Patthar, 200 metres higher than the Base Camp at 4am to see the sunrise on Everest.  It was the hardest part of the trip but with 360 degree views of the Himalayas, you truly feel like you are on top of the world and nothing can beat that experience.”

Thomas had been worried that they had not done enough training to make it to Base Camp.

“We had an amazing team that supported each other and I can truly say my sheer determination and desire to raise funds for such an important cause was an overriding factor in my achievement. Once you put your mind to something that is really important to you, you can do anything,” she said.

Collectively the group raised $49,081 with all funds raised going directly to research and provide support and services to people living with Leukaemia.
