Quirky campaign promotes Kakadu

Inspiring Journeys has unveiled a series of new webisodes as part of a campaign to encourage Aussies to seize opportunities to visit domestic destinations, rather than leaving them till later in life.

Jeff Lim, Inspiring Journeys' head of marketing, explained that many Aussies put off a trip to places like Kakadu because it is "on our doorstep".

"Because of this, we developed the Kakadu Cab campaign to highlight and remind Australians that they don't have to travel far, nor wait a lifetime to see and experience some of the most spectacular destinations in the world," he said.

The Kakadu Cab campaign, supported by Tourism NT, saw unsuspecting members of the public flag down a black cab in Sydney late last year. Once inside, they were then faced with the choice of continuing to their desired destination, or immediately leaving on a trip to the Top End.

Of those approached, four accepted the proposition and were promptly sent off on Inspiring Journey's three-day Long Rainbow itinerary around Kakadu, with each of their experiences documented in an individual YouTube clip.

"With Australians often citing their busy lifestyles and daily demands as reasons for not taking regular short breaks, we hope that the Kakadu Cab videos will trigger a desire to visit this remarkable destination, while also encouraging people to break from their everyday routine and explore Australia now rather than waiting until later in life," Lim said.
