Record response for Rail Plus program
By admin

A record number of agents have applied for the Rail Plus Global Rail Experts program with 150 agents vying for just 40 places.

Rail Plus national sales and marketing manager Greg McCallum described the interest as overwhelming.

He said it reflects the growing importance of rail travel and the need for agents to enhance their knowledge and stand apart from traditional and online competitors.

"Applicants were asked to explain why they wanted to become a rail expert, and the desire to get ahead by developing 'an edge' was a consistent theme," McCallum said.

"On a practical level, agents also acknowledged the fact that taking their knowledge of key products – including rail passes and great rail journeys – to a new level will positively impact their sales performance."

Over the next 10 weeks the 40 successful candidates will complete a 10 training modules, including specific units this year on iconic Canadian and Australian rail journeys.

Graduates are competing for a range of prizes, including a return trip to Canada, two Gold Service tickets on The Ghan or Indian Pacific and a fully-funded place on an international Rail Plus educational.
