TravelManagers’ seventh national conference, taking place at Singapore’s Raffles City Convention Centre from August 15 to 18, is expected to draw its largest attendance to date.

A record number of 170 personal travel managers and 36 partner suppliers are expected to participate in the event conference which will be themed Inspiring People, Inspiring Travel. It will be the first time all states and territories will be represented.

“The 2014 conference provides an opportunity for personal travel managers to familiarise themselves firsthand with the destination as it grows as a re-energised destination in its own right," executive general manager Michael Gazal said.

Post conference opportunities to stay longer in Singapore or take part in famils to India or Sri Lanka are also proving popular, he added.

 

Australian arrivals to Canada climbed more than 7% in April to 13,414, latest figures have shown.

It took arrivals in the first four months of the year to 52,314, a rise of 1.1% on the same period last year.

Total international visitors to Canada soared more than 15% in April to 312,000 and by 5% to 997,000 for the first four months.

 

Malaysia Airlines has been confirmed as a major sponsor for the 2014 Global Rail Expert program, with the airline’s top five sellers during the training period to nab a spot on a famil to France and Germany.

A total of 50 travel agents will take part in the 2014 training program, which offers 10 training modules over a 10-week period which commences on June 30.

“Malaysia Airlines’ network seamlessly connects Australian travellers with many of the world’s leading rail journeys, particularly those in Europe and across Asia,” Rail Plus general manager sales and marketing Greg McCallum said.

“At the same time, the airline shares with rail operators a passion for efficiency, innovation and the highest levels of customer service, which makes it an ideal partner for this year’s program.”

 

Melbourne’s Star Observation Wheel has teamed up with Global Ballooning Australia to offer an early morning hot air balloon ride over the city combined with an evening ride on the ferris wheel.

The Good Morning Good Night Melbourne package offers a “unique way” to enjoy a birds-eye view across Melbourne at two different times in the same day, according to Melbourne Star chief executive Chris Kelly.
