Peregrine in bid to woo anti-group travellers
By admin

Adventure operator Peregrine has branched out from its small group tour roots as it aims to attract a market that would previously never have considered travelling with the company.

The launch of Independent Journeys and Independent Experiences will aim to lure travellers who have no desire to travel in groups, the traditional stronghold of Peregrine.

Peregrine, which is part of the Intrepid Group, said the addition of the new styles of travel will expose its product to a wider audience.

“We love group travel, but we’re realistic, we know it’s not for everyone,” said Intrepid group brand and product manager Steve Wroe. “We often speak to travellers who love the idea of the off-the-beaten track, responsible, local experiences that Peregrine offers, but just can’t handle the idea of travelling on a group trip.”

Independent Journeys will offer 25 of Peregrine’s most popular group tours – but without the group element. Travellers will be hosted in each location by a guide but will move between destinations independently. Morocco, Turkey, India and Vietnam will feature.

Independent Experiences, meanwhile, will be city-based packages of between two and five days. Designed to be combined with other Experience packages, Wroe said it will enable travellers to almost tailor-make an itinerary “but without the costs associated with booking an individually designed itinerary”.

The product will be available from January 2015.
