Contiki Holidays has announced Japan as a new destination in its 2015 Asia program for launch in September.

Growth in Contiki’s Asian small group tours in 2013 prompted the addition of Japan to the program.

“Our Asia product has been incredibly successful since its launch in 2009 and we have decided to expand our product offering to Japan,” brand director Alastair Campbell said.

 

Destination Germany has reported an increase in overseas visitor numbers for the fourth year in a row, with over 70 million overnight stays for 2013.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, there has been a 4% increase in overnight stays in Germany since the previous year.

 

Back Roads Touring has appointed a new brand manager for Australia and New Zealand amid a period of record expansion for the company.

Hugh Houston has accepted the position, bringing 20 years of experience to the brand.

'We have seen growth of over 70% in the last 12 months which has led to the expansion of the Back-Roads Australasia team,” Back-Roads Australia/New Zealand general manager Sarah Clark said.

 

The lunar new year attracted over one million visitors to Macau over the spring festival to welcome the Year of the Horse.

Local three to five star hotels recorded an average occupancy rate of almost 95%, a rise of 5.4%. Macau’s five star properties recorded occupancies of 97.2% – an increase of 6.3% compared to 2013 figures.

 

Uniworld has introduced the ‘Marco Polo Promo’ incentive to encourage Australian travel agents to book any of its 2014 river cruises, for the chance to win a trip to Italy or China.

The three highest sellers of the 2014 Uniworld cruises, between February 3 and March 16, will win the competition.

 

Taipei Taoyuan International Airport is now officially an Emirates passenger destination, with the launch of new daily direct services from Dubai to Taipei.
