Australian Federation of Travel Agents chief executive, Jayson Westbury, has been confirmed as a speaker at the Independent Travel Group's annual Business Forum, to take place in Hong Kong from November 21 to 24.

Wetsbury will update the group on the progress of the Travel Industry Transition Plan and the new accreditation scheme.

"The ITG forum gives all attendees a unique opportunity to engage in two-way dialogue structured to enhance business development for both agents and suppliers," chief executive Tom Manwaring said.

"With the inclusion of AFTA, top keynote speakers and a range of relevant panel discussions, this Forum looks to be one of our most exciting programs to date."

Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) is on the hunt for a new chair, as Barrie Adams will step down in November after almost three years in the role.

The board paid tribute to Adams' contribution during a "difficult three years" for the destination's tourism sector.

The new appointment will follow the recent recruitment of new chief executive Simon Ambrose.

A new strategic global alliance with marine travel expert alliance MTA marks the latest phase in the expansion of corporate travel firm The Travel Authority.

The alliance, which means The Travel Authority is now the Australasian representative for MTA, will enhance the group's ability to "attract and retain larger corporate clients," according to managing director Peter Hosper.

APT national sales manager Susan Haberle has been promoted to the newly created role of commercial manager retail across both the APT and Travelmarvel brands.

Haberle will retain responsibility of the national sales team, while taking on responsibility for all trade distribution, strategy and planning.
