LAX to undergo Westfield makeover
By admin

Westfield has teamed up with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to begin the construction that is set to transform Terminal 2 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) into a shopping and dining hub.

The developers released a video today, which features the 20 new dining and retail destinations to be included in the transformation.

Westfield and LAWA will bring nine Southern California-based brands, a modern design and new traveller amenities to the terminal, boosting the luxury travel experience at LAX.

Based in Los Angeles, the global developer behind the transformation is steadily converting Terminals 1, 2, 3, 6 and Tom Bradley International Terminal into a hub for luxury retail and sophisticated dining.

Westfield’s 4900-square metre dining and retail collection will introduce 20 new destinations to Terminal 2, including eight new airport firsts that are set to increase sales by over 35%.

The redevelopment is set to be completed in 2015, with no predicted interruptions to terminal operations, and new retail, dining and amenities such as lounge style seating and more charging stations gradually phased in to provide more immediate enhancements.

Westfield’s executive vice president Dominic Lowe said the vision for Terminal 2 is to create a tailor-made environment for travellers within the airport.

“As LAX forges ahead with a multibillion dollar modernisation, Westfield takes great pride in helping LAWA realize its vision of transforming this airport into an iconic L.A. landmark for both local residents and travellers around the globe, one terminal at a time,” Lowe said.
