Jetstar to operate 787 across Tasman

Jetstar to operate 787 across Tasman
By admin

Jetstar will operate a 787 across the Tasman early next year – but only for a month.

The carrier said the Dreamliner will fly between Melbourne and Auckland three times each week from February 26 to March 28, with one way fares starting from $149.

Jetstar Australia and New Zealand chief executive David Hall claimed the 787, the first of which joined the fleet in September, has been well received by passengers. Jetstar's first international Dreamliner flight departs Melbourne for Bali tomorrow.

“We have been delighted with the reaction from our customers,” Hall said. “And I can say from my experience, the 787 is a destination in itself.

“The seasonal 787 service [to Auckland] will give our trans-Tasman customers the chance to enjoy the aircraft which features more natural light, larger cabins and in-flight entertainment in every seat.”

Jetstar will take delivery of its second 787 this month and the third in early January. It has 355 seats, 21 in business class and 314 in economy.

All of Jetstar’s A330 services will be replaced with 787s by 2015.
