Hong Kong used to be a fishing village. It is now home to 7 million people who dwell in a space smaller than New York's Manhattan district. It also has the largest number of skyscrapers in the world, with more than twice as many as New York. There are an astounding 8000 buildings higher than 14 floors.

Hong Kong boasts 84,000 millionaires and thousands of wealthy expats drawn to its financial district, fast-paced lifestyle and exclusive perks. There are more than 260 islands offshore but most of them are uninhabited.

¾ of Hong Kong is classified as rural land, parks, scenic spots, forest and coast. yet the majority of residents live in high rise apartments the size of bathrooms. For example, Chungking Mansions are five towers That are 7 stories high, but are home to 5000 people.

Each day the population triples thanks to buyers, barterers and sellers who turn it into an unofficial market. In one region there are 130,000 people per square kilometre.

Hong Kong also has the world's highest concentration of restaurants, with one establishment for every 600 people.
