Brand USA has launched a culinary initiative aimed at promoting food-focused tourism and showcasing the US as a gastronomic hub for travellers.

Brand USA collaborated with the Department of State’s Diplomatic Culinary Partnership and James Beard Foundation to produce the Discover America: Great American Food Stories culinary guide, which has been published in six languages.

“American cuisine captures inspiration from all over the world, truly embodying the diversity and history of the United States,” Brand USA’s president and chief executive Christopher Thompson said.

“We’re excited to invite travellers to experience the culinary highlights of each region of the country.”

The guide will feature 31 James Beard affiliated chefs with recipes from all regions of the US, and will be launched in conjunction with Independence Day celebrations at US missions in Australia, China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Some of the top chefs featured in the intitiative include Rick Bayless, Bryce Gilmore (pictured), Barbara Lynch and Sam Kass.

A digital platform for the Discover America culinary guide will be broadcast on all Brand USA channels, and will include US culinary destinations and Q&A sessions with participating chefs.

Brand USA is encouraging travellers to share their own US food and culinary travel experiences on social media platforms, using the hashtag #FoodStoriesUSA.
