A new television series presented by Kiwi chef Al Brown will showcase Australia's culinary experiences to New Zealanders, with the first episode going to air across the ditch over the weekend.

The 10 part series, Dishing up Australia with Al Brown, will see the celebrity visit regions throughout Australia discovering local produce, sampling Aussie dishes and meeting resident foodies.

Experiences include wine-tasting in the Barossa Valley, fashing for Barramundi off the coast of Darwin and visiting the oldest coffee plantation in Australia.

Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said enlisting Kiwis to present Australia to a New Zealand audience is a strategy that is working well.

"Sharing the flavours of regional Australia through the distinctive style of a well-known foodie such as Al Brown will, I'm sure, whet the appetite of Kiwis to explore a little further some of the wonderful Aussie culinary experiences we have to offer," he said.

"Each week Al will travel beyond the traditional gateways and inspire New Zealanders to delve a little deeper into their number holiday destination – Australia."
