August delivery still stands for Qantas 787

August delivery still stands for Qantas 787
By admin

Qantas has said it has received no formal notification from Boeing that the arrival of its first 787 Dreamliner will be further delayed.

Chief executive Alan Joyce said management is in daily contact with the aircraft manufacturer as Qantas prepares for the August delivery of its first 787.

The grounding of the Dreamliner amid battery concerns has put the delivery schedule for Qantas, and numerous other airlines, in doubt.

Joyce conceded that "significant changes" to the aircraft's batteries are required and acknowledged that a lot of regulatory approval will be required before the troubled 787 returns to the skies.

"We are in constant dialogue with Boeing… we have not been informed formally of any delays but we do have flexibility around managing that," he said.

"We want the aircraft as soon as we can but we have the 767 still flying and we can extend them for a little but longer."
