Air NZ to fly to Argentina
By admin

Air New Zealand will commence direct flights between Auckland and Buenos Aires from December 2015.

The three return services a week year-round operated by a Boeing 777-200 aircraft will signify the first for the Kiwi carrier to South America.

Flights will be on sale from March, subject to necessary approvals.

"This new route to Buenos Aires further strengthens our network in the Pacific Rim. Argentina is an exciting new destination for New Zealanders, and with seamless one-stop connectivity through Auckland it will provide a fantastic opportunity for Australians as well," Air NZ ceo, Christopher Luxon said.

The airline has also signed a code-share agreement with Aerolineas Argentinas, subject to approval, which will allow Air New Zealand to expand services to Brazil. Under the reciprocal agreement it will also allow Aerolineas Argentinas to use AirNZ flights to the country and beyond.

New Zealand prime minister and tourism minister, John Key told AAP the new flights is expected to stimulate tourism to and from South America.

"South America offers significant potential for the New Zealand tourism industry so I am pleased Air New Zealand has decided to start flying there,” Key said.
