“I peed on myself watching this” – Social media users squirm at Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of The Seas 55ft dive video

Cruises aren’t necessarily known for attracting adrenaline junkies. Royal Caribbean, however, is shaking things up with a 17m (55ft) dive aboard its Harmony of the Seas ship.

In an eye-watering video, Ginni van Katwijk, a trained Royal Caribbean diver can be seen jumping off the 17m high diving board into a pool below.

At the beginning of the clip, van Katwijk is spotted gazing down at the pool that seems impossibly far away.

After speaking to the camera she then jumps, doing several impressive flips on her way down.

Despite van Katwijk’s calm demeanor, social media users were less calm watching the clip with many openly expressing terror.

“I peed on myself watching this,” one user said candidly, picking up thousands of likes.

“How is this allowed,” one user asked. While another was slightly more blasé about the thing, suggesting that it isn’t actually that high.

“Don’t get me wrong, this is very high, but from her POV it’s looks waaaaaaay higher.”

Whilst users were divided on just how impressive the dive was, we bet Royal Caribbean’s marketing team are unanimously happy with the video’s success. It has already picked up an impressive 40 million views, as well as ample attention from the global press.

Harmony of the Seas is the world’s largest cruise ship, holding more than 5,000 passengers and crew. Van Katwijk is part of the dive team which performs for customers.
