Dreamtime flaunts Australia’s business events offerings in Adelaide
Business events decision makers from around the world have arrived in Adelaide to meet with Australian industry sellers at Tourism Australia’s signature incentive showcase, Dreamtime.
Starting today, 80 international buyers and almost 90 domestic sellers will gather at the Adelaide Convention Centre for the two-day program designed to increase awareness of and interest in Australia as a business events destination.
The qualified buyers have travelled to Australia from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, North America and United Kingdom for Dreamtime.
“We know Australia has world class business events offerings and Dreamtime is a chance to show international business events buyers why there is nothing like Australia for their next business event,” minister for trade and tourism Don Farrell said.
“For the first time since 2019, qualified buyers from key markets around the world will have the chance to connect with Australian industry sellers at Dreamtime and build relationships which will lead to future business events here in Australia.
“These real outcomes will be vital for businesses as we rebuild the strong pipeline of international events and help the industry get back to the levels we saw pre-pandemic, when it attracted more than a million visitors who contributed $4.5 billion to the Australian economy as a whole.”
While in Australia, the international buyers will also take part in a familiarisation program, enabling them to see other destinations around the country and experience first-hand the full depth and breadth of what Australia has to offer.
This is the first Dreamtime event to be held since 2019. The last event in Perth generated 36 business leads in three months, worth $97 million, despite the disruption of the global pandemic.
South Australian minister for tourism and multicultural affairs Zoe Bettison said her state was proud to host this event to showcase Australia’s best incentive experiences and products and we are particularly delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our State to agents and media from around the world.
“International buyers looking for a unique and sustainable boutique destination will find everything they need right here. World class venues, luxury hotels, easy access to the airport – not to mention getting around our city – you can walk, take a tram, a scooter – take your pick,” she said.
“Here in South Australia we are blessed to have world renowned destinations such as the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley right on our doorstep. Visitors don’t have to travel far for a unique and memorable experience, in what is considered the wine capital and the seafood capital of Australia.”
“Hosting business events and welcoming corporate incentive guests are a key focus for the South Australian Government. We know that business events and corporate incentives help drive the State’s strategic priorities. That’s why we are supporting Business Events Adelaide, and our Team Adelaide members, to showcase South Australia to the world. Every year, Business Events Adelaide welcomes over 50,000 business event delegates to Adelaide, generating $250 million for the state economy.”
Australia is continuing to rebuild a pipeline of international business events through opportunities such as Dreamtime and Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund Program, which has already helped to win 118 events for Australia, with a direct economic benefit of around $873 million.
