Scoring new goals in traveller numbers to Berlin – this was the aim of the game for the Visit Berlin team and their hotel partners returning to Sydney for a showcase of what the German capital has to offer its visitors in 2024!

While enjoying drinks and a 3-course meal at Watersedge Sydney over 70 agents and media representatives were entertained with very personal stories about growing up in Berlin, living in Berlin and also “just” visiting Berlin.

“We invite our guests not to be only tourists but to be Berliner citizens for their stay” says Berlin CEO Burkhard Kieker. With a special App “Going Local Berlin” visitors can explore for example the different Berlin districts off the usual tourist trails.

“I absolutely loved this format of sharing stories” commented a freelance writer. “Especially the experiences during the fall of the Berlin wall were so moving!” In addition to the 35th anniversary of this historic event, the UEFA European Championship was a highlight topic of the night with CEO of Kulturprojekte Moritz van Dülmen describing how the famous Brandenbug Gate will be transformed into the world’s largest soccer goal.

The fun and entertaining evening concluded with a soccer shoot out and one lucky agent going home with the ball AND the goal. “I cannot wait to go and visit Berlin now” was the parting comment from many.
