Jetstar flight diverts to Guam after pilot discovers cracked windscreen

A Jetstar plane flying from Tokyo to Cairns yesterday was forced to divert to Guam after the plane’s windscreen was damaged.

Jetstar flight JQ26 made a request for priority landing after the plane’s captain noticed the damaged windscreen of the Boeing 787 that was carrying 228 people.

Passengers had to wait for a replacement flight before continuing their journey to far north Queensland. landing at 5:40 am on Thursday morning, around 24 hours after it was scheduled to arrive.

A Jetstar spokesperson said only the outer layer of the aircraft was damaged in the incident and commented on the process of ensuring passengers were looked after.

‘We arranged hotel accommodation and meals for customers during the delay in Guam, and our captain and operations team worked closely with local authorities to arrange customs processing and support at the airport,’ the spokesperson said.

‘Safety is always our number one priority.’
