Australia’s longest running eating, drinking and culinary tourism festival Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel will return in 2024 from Friday 3 May to Sunday 12 May.

Established in 1997, Tasting Australia is the country’s longest running eating and drinking festival; an event that underpins the food and beverage sector in South Australia.

The ten-day event offers a real opportunity to showcase SA’s talent, produce and destinations to the world.

The 2023 edition of Tasting Australia saw events run across Adelaide and regional South Australia and supported more than 250 local businesses.

South Australia’s tourism minister, Zoe Bettison, said Tasting Australia is a great opportunity for the industry to shine a light on South Australian producers.

“This unique event showcases South Australia as a true international culinary hotspot, bringing together top chefs, drinks makers and industry leaders from all around the globe, exposing them to the state’s incredible produce working alongside our amazing local talent,” she said.

It attracted record breaking crowds, with more than 68,000 people visiting the CBD hub Town Square in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga.

Town Square featured a brand-new space, The Dining Room presented by White Marquee where intimate Chef’s Table events were hosted as well as free storytellers series with some of the festival’s top names like Patron Simon Bryant, Christine Manfield, Paul Carmichael and Justin James.

The co-festival director, Karena Armstrong, said the event is about telling the stories of its produce and producers to people around the world.

“The festival program is designed to create lasting memories through food and beverage experiences – once off moments that are unique to Tasting Australia. The creative team and I are so thrilled to see the growth of the event each year with more and more people getting involved and experiencing what Tasting Australia has to offer,” Armstrong said.

In addition to all the action in Town Square, more than 150 events took place across all 12 regions of South Australia including an overnight trip to the Flinders Ranges with Tasting Australia Airlines and a special collaboration between Chin Chin and Yalumba in the Barossa.

Tasting Australia will announce their 2024 program later this year.
