Another mid-air drama for aircraft involved in evacuation slide incident above Chicago, just one of United’s latest emergencies

    The same aircraft that was involved in a mid-air evacuation slide incident in the skies above Chicago last week, has been forced to make another emergency landing at Chicago’ O’Hare Airport, just hours into its first flight since the slide malfunction took place.

    On Wednesday night (local time), the United Airlines Boeing 767-300 was operating United Airlines Flight 3 from Chicago to Zurich in Switzerland.

    About 260 nautical miles into the trip, crews decided to return to Chicago.

    In audio obtained by Travel Weekly TV, crew onboard the flight can he heard reporting “uncontained heat and smoke on the flight deck.”

    A large fire and emergency response kicked into place at the airport and in surrounding areas.

    Just 9 days ago, the same aircraft dropped its evacuation slide onto the streets below on final approach to Chicago’s airport.

    And, in the early hours of the morning (Sydney time), a United Airlines flight bound for Singapore returned to San Francisco after dumping fuel off the coast of California.

    A United Airlines spokesperson told local news channel, KRON4 the flight returned to San Francisco and landed without incident.

    The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which is capable of carrying up to 255 passengers.
