Jetstar denies claim of racism following passengers removal from flight

A Brisbane businessman is claiming he and his whole family were removed from a Jetstar flight because one of the group was a “terrorist looking person.”

Harry Singh and his family were reportedly travelling to Bali for his daughter’s birthday when the incident took place.

He claims a cabin crew member told a colleague to “get that terrorist looking person off the plane now,” Singh told 7 News

A claim that the airline denies.

Singh said the incident changed the way he perceived Australia altogether.

Jetstar categorically denies the allegations. The airline told 7 News the family were kicked off the flight for being verbally abusive towards staff.

It also claims the incident happened last year.

‘Occasionally our crew need to make difficult judgment calls on the ground in order to prevent incidents in the air. This situation is one example of that,’ an airline spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia

“The passenger and his family were denied boarding after becoming verbally abusive towards our crew.”

“We categorically deny that it was due to any reason other than safety,” the airline told media.

“Our crew were professional at all times and did not use the language they have been accused of using.”

Singh said he challenges Jetstar “to provide any evidence that my behaviour was inappropriate.”
