Air NZ’s Koru Hour cuts: Airline calls last drinks on free wine and cheese

Air NZ’s Koru Hour cuts: Airline calls last drinks on free wine and cheese

Air New Zealand’s much-loved Koru Hour treats have been scrapped by the airline, but they will be back.

Koru Hour is a service offered by New Zealand’s national carrier in the peak evening commuter hours. Passengers are offered premium cheese and alcohol at no charge, instead of the usual chips or cookies.

A spokesperson for the airline says the problem is simply down to staffing challenges, but the treats will return next week.

“Like many other businesses, our catering partner is experiencing a rise in staff illness and staff shortages.

“However, customers don’t have to wait for long as we will be bringing back Koru hour services from next week, February 1st. We thank our customers for their understanding while we worked through these challenges,” the spokesperson said.

The airline said staff had even volunteered to lend a hand to alleviate some of the pressure in the kitchen to support the supplier.
