Accor opens new flagship Novotel in Tassie

The doors have officially opened at Novotel Devonport, north Tasmania’s most anticipated hotel launch for 2022.

The hotel boasts a waterfront location overlooking the Mersey River, just a stone’s throw from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal, and offers guests a selection of 187 spacious accommodation options, including standard, superior and deluxe guestrooms with a choice of city or river views, along with a selection of luxurious executive suites.

Interiors at the hotel are timeless and classic, with a neutral colour palette inspired by the natural beauty of Tasmania. Warm accents of red and yellow, seen in the leather and fabric upholstery of decorative furniture pieces, add depth and visual interest and all rooms feature a striking mural of north-west Tasmanian scenery by local photographer Nuala Byrne above the bedhead.

The Lyons Architecture-designed hotel was conceptualised to act as an iconic horizontal land bridge, visually connecting the Mersey River to the city of Devonport. The hotel seemingly floats above its parkland setting as a striking elevated structure propped on sculptural columns.

Coinciding with the hotel’s debut is the opening of the Mr. Good Guy restaurant and bar, which is set to become Devonport’s newest gourmet destination.

Diners will experience flavour-filled Southeast Asian street-food with a cheeky modern twist, utilising the best of Tasmanian produce.

The hotel also features 24-hour room service, 24-hour fitness centre, a meeting room for up to 20 delegates, and direct access to the paranaple convention centre.

Accor Pacific CEO, Sarah Derry, said: “It is an exciting time for Devonport; the city is on the verge of a tourism boom, with several major infrastructure works underway to revitalise the city.

“Novotel Devonport represents one of the most significant tourism investments in the region in years in the bustling coastal city of Devonport. Regional Tasmania holds great appeal for visitors and the presence of Novotel Devonport will contribute to the region’s ability to attract conferences and events.

“Novotel Devonport is a celebration of innovative interior design, thoughtful detail and will provide a great culinary experience, caring for guests and the local community.”

Novotel has one of the largest hotel brand footprints across Australia and New Zealand, with more than 40 hotels in key metropolitan and leisure destinations. The brand’s global reputation for intuitive, modern design and rewarding guest experiences will make Novotel Devonport a popular attraction in the city, with quality accommodation offerings despite being a major gateway for tourism and trade.

Opening Special: Be among the first to experience Novotel Devonport by taking advantage of its opening special from $269* per night in a Standard King Room, including 2-course dinner for two at Mr. Good Guy (food only) and buffet breakfast.
