New high-speed train to make travelling through Italy MUCH easier

A new high-speed Genoa-Naples train will run throughout Italy and stop off in Milan, Florence, Bologna, and Rome.

Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly take in all the beautiful sights of Italy in one trip, this new train arrives to show off the mountainous Alps, crystalline lakes, searing deserts, and the Sun-glazed Mediterranean coast.

The trip time between the Italian Riviera and the Gulf of Naples is six hours and 45 minutes and is run by Italian train transport company, Italo, providing competition to the state-owned Trenitalia service.

The service runs daily, leaving Genova Piazza Principe at 6:14 am and reaching Napoli Centrale at 12.53 pm.

The return trip leaves at 4.20 pm and arrives in Genoa at 11:09 pm.

The cheapest seats on the train, the ‘Smart’ class seats, cost €50 (AUD$78.11), although travellers can upgrade to the ‘Prima’ option, which features leather reclining seats, and ‘Club Executive’ option, with complimentary drinks and snacks, plus station lounge access.

The new trip marks the return of European rail travel as travel restrictions appear to wound back across the globe. New high-speed routes are popping up across the continent, offering a genuine alternative to plane travel.

If you’d like to learn more about the new train ride check it out at the Italo website.
